With its forged 19-inch alloy wheels, flared wheel arches, larger grille and discreet rear spoiler the IS F leads in technological sophistication and unparalleled refinement. The quad tail pipes hint at the power under the bonnet, but it retains the clean and sculptural look that is expressed in all Lexus vehicles – the L-Finesse design. The development team behind the IS F set themselves a demanding objective: to create a car of compelling performance, that would retain our high standards of sophisticated luxury, quality and safety for which Lexus is renowned. The result is exceptionally refined, yet rewardingly responsive. But while the new Lexus sets high standards in acceleration, braking and handling, the way it achieves it is even more significant. Led by F-project manager Yukihiko Yaguchi, great emphasis was placed on the ‘Instantaneous Sensory’ elements of driving the IS F, creating a bond between driver and car that feels intuitive and confidence-inspiring. The dual mode 8-speed Direct Sports Shift transmission is smooth and unobtrusive as a Lexus automatic should be, yet in manual mode can achieve ultra-fast upshifts in 0.1 seconds, far quicker than a conventional manual shift. The V8 engine of the IS F delivers over 400bhp and 500Nm of torque, powering the IS F from 0-60mph in under five seconds.
